Who We Are

Al Younbouh is a non-residential rehabilitation center dedicated to supporting differently-abled children and adults. With over 30 years of experience, the center initially provided specialized support to individuals aged 14 and above who had never previously been enrolled in special institutions. It later expanded its services to welcome children starting at age 7 with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities. Our facility is designed to effectively address the various needs of our beneficiaries. Al Younbouh’s main mission is to improve the quality of life of its students, and ensure their dignified integration into society.

Testimonials

MA Clinical Psychologist, Al Younbouh

“When I first walked into Al Younbouh, I believed I was there to make a difference: to help individuals develop life skills, overcome challenges, and reach their potential. Like many psychologists, I entered with the hope of changing lives. What I did not expect was how profoundly they would change mine. Every day, the students at Al Younbouh remind me that happiness can be found in the simplest moments, that authenticity is far more powerful than perfection, and that genuine human connection requires nothing more than acceptance and presence. They have taught me to celebrate small victories, to appreciate honesty without filters, and to see the world through a lens of gratitude and resilience. Working at Al Younbouh has been much more than a professional experience, it has been a personal journey of growth. It has reinforced my belief that therapy is never a one-way process. While we strive to empower those we support, they often become our greatest teachers, reminding us of the values we sometimes lose in the rush of everyday life. It is an honor to be part of a place that not only transforms the lives of individuals with special needs and their families but also transforms the hearts of those who have the privilege of working alongside them.”

Mother of a Student

"Being the parents of Peggy, our only daughter, who has lived since birth with optic atrophy associated with intellectual disability, has been a journey filled with challenges, but also with encounters that have brought hope back into our lives. For our Peggy, that encounter had a name: Al Younbouh. Today, 31 years later, Peggy still goes there with the same enthusiasm. Thanks to the attentive support of qualified staff and dedicated volunteers, she has developed her abilities, gained greater independence within to her potential, and found her place in an environment where she is respected, loved, and valued. Over the years, I also became involved as a volunteer. There, I discovered extraordinary young people, passionate educators, and a wonderful network of solidarity. Al Younbouh is not simply a center; it is a home of Hope, Dignity, and Love. My gratitude to everyone who dedicates themselves to this mission is immeasurable. From the bottom of my heart, I hope that this beautiful mission will continue to illuminate the lives of many families, just as it has illuminated ours."

Volunteer, BBA, MBA - (AUB)

"My first encounter with Al Younbouh students was through Godia, a scout group for youth with special needs, where my two boys were committee members. From the very first moment I met them, I saw their innocence and unconditional love. I knew then that I wanted to dedicate my time to making a difference in their lives. My volunteer journey actually began by skipping work one day a week to volunteer at Al Younbouh. Then I made a life-changing decision, and quit my managerial job after 28 years in my profession. Once I closed my own company, “one day” quickly became two, then three, and eventually every day, whether from home or from the center. It was a new chapter in my life and a leap of faith, but one that I have never regretted. I started by giving one-on-one Logic and Math sessions, then became involved in fundraising projects, the yearly “Walk with Al Younbouh”, various exhibitions, and many other events and activities. Today, one of my most rewarding roles is managing Al Younbouh’s social media. I love bringing our joyful pages to life and sharing with the world the smiles, talents, and achievements of Al Younbouh students. Most of all, I love using these platforms to remind people that inclusion is something we must truly live. The youth of Al Younbouh have taught me some of life’s most beautiful lessons: to see abilities before disabilities, to celebrate the little things, to give without expecting anything in return, and to appreciate the beauty of a sincere hug or smile. Al Younbouh genuinely made me realize that the greatest gift of volunteering is not what you give, but what you receive in return."
